2014 is quickly coming to an end and it's the time of year where almost everyone makes New Year Resolutions. We all know that most people will keep their resolutions for about two weeks, then they'll either give up or fail at it. It's the truth that no one likes to admit, which is why I hardly ever make resolutions for the following year.
This year though, I am making quite a few resolutions... most of them being spiritual. I know that if I stick with these resolutions, they will better my life and I will grow closer to Christ by doing them.
Most of my resolutions for this next year come from the book, "Radical" by David Platt. I finished this book in about the span of a week, and this book literally rocked my world. It made me think of what a life of radical abandonment to Jesus truly looks like. At the end of the book, there was a list of challenges that we signed saying that we would commit to doing for the new year. On this list were 4 different challenges.
1. Pray for the entire world.
2. Read through the entire word.
3. Spend your time in another context.
4. Commit your life to a multiplying community.

This is a challenge that I'm ready for. This next year, I am planning on praying for the entire world. David Platt suggested reading the book Operation World. This book has a list of every country, needs, percent of Christians, etc. I want this book so bad. I want to commit myself for praying for missionaries that I know, as well as the world.
I've also never read the entire Word of God. I've barely made it through a complete book in the Bible. Before Bible college, I never really had a desire to read the Word. Most of the time I just feel overwhelmed because I don't know where to start. After this semester, I have a hunger to know the Word of God and understand biblical stories the way children do. I want to share Him with this world, and to share Him with this world, I have to know Him and what His word says. I hope that in this next year, He reveals Himself to me in amazing ways through reading His Word.
I've already spent time in another context- very thankful for the opportunities that Christ has put in front of me. Turkey, Africa, and now Italy! God has been so gracious in providing for me to serve in different places and see different cultures. I will commit to interact with more international people this year- I'm not sure how though.
Commit my life to a multiplying community. Honestly, this one will be the hardest for me to do as I jump back into my Spring semester. I've been attending a church called Summit in Spokane. I love this church and am starting to form great relationships there. However, I have great relationships at a church that is launching in January. If you think of it, will you pray that the Lord clearly leads me as to where to attend? I want to commit my life to a multiplying community and be faithful to the Lord and His church. I want to experience fellowship and community this year in ways that I have never experienced them before.
SO.
THESE ARE MY RESOLUTIONS. I believe that if I commit to these, as well as striving to live for Christ above all this year... that God will reveal more of Himself to me.

Lord, I may not be ready for all that this next year will bring...but with you, I'm ready. Thank you for all that you will do this next year. May I grow closer to you every single day.
