A Sinful Woman Forgiven

A Sinful Woman Forgiven

I searched for love in all the wrong places. I am longing to be loved, and am going from man to man to fulfill that desire. I make a living by giving pieces of my soul away, one man at a time.  I am a prostitute.

My story starts out by arriving at Simon’s house. I did not know Simon previously, I just welcomed myself into his house. I have heard that a man named Jesus was going to be there. And I knew that He was different from all the other men I have been longing for. This man was different.

When I heard that Jesus was there, I brought my most expensive alabaster ointment over to Simon’s house to begin anointing Jesus. With thanksgiving and a grateful heart, I start let my hair down… which is so unacceptable in our culture. Part of me was worried, but I also felt comfortable.  I started to wipe my hair on His feet, kissing them, and I started to anoint them with oil. I, a prostitute, am sitting in the presence of Jesus.

Simon didn’t really realize that Jesus was who He said he was. Simon doubted. But I, a prostitute, knew that this man was different. This man was love. After anointing Jesus, he turns to me and says that my sins are forgiven. My heart feels so relieved. I don’t know and don’t understand how that can be, but my heart likes it. No man has ever said this to me, and I am filled with thankfulness. How can God forgive a prostitute like me? What an amazing act of love.

He ends with saying to me, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” And so I went, proclaiming His goodness to me.
